These villas for rent in Bali come with private swimming pool. The pool is an integrated part of the villa layout, it is magnificent, inviting and offers such a great relief to cool off from Bali’s typical tropical heat. Pool safety at villas in Bali .
As much as a swimming pool is a great necessity in a villa, it can also present danger. Particularly for children who are unable to swim. We all can get carried away sometimes during a holiday, where negligence can easily overtake our usual levels of alert when it comes to a child’s safety. A villa for rent in Bali is not required to build a fence around the pool area.
It is simply not a compulsory requirement. However, pool fencing is compulsory in some countries, and a permit to build a backyard swimming pool will not be issued unless specific standards are met. Some argue that pool fencing reduce the aesthetic of the villa, some feel safety must be adhered and prioritized. Whatever the argument is, the fact of the matter remains that there are still cases of children drowning even in a fenced pool. Fencing a swimming pool is not entirely fool-proof. Neglect and poor fencing practices often lead of preventable death among loved ones.
So how can we prevent our loved ones from drowning? There is no definite answer to this, after all it comes down to parental/adult supervision to ensure loved ones are not on their own when they are near a swimming pool. However the following suggestions should reduce the risk of drowning, when followed closely.
- Teach your children how to swim, young children as early as 4 years old should know how to swim. It is getting more and more common now for parents to teach their children to swim from very early years.
- If your children do not know how to swim, never leave them unattended – even for a very short moment. It does not take long at all for children to drown. Often children do not struggle when they drown, they simply descend to the bottom of the pool quietly. Even when there are adults around swimming in the pool, supervision is still needed vigilantly. Some drowning occurs when there are other people swimming, suddenly a child is found at the bottom of the pool.
- Some villas for rent in Bali provide flotation devices/toys. Never assume they are completely safe enough for you to leave them on their own. Always keep an eye on them.
- Many big hotels in Bali now have lifeguards on duty. However, private villas being their nature of being “home away from home”, many do not have a lifeguard on duty. Safety of your loved ones around the pool is in your hand.
- Advise your children not to get boisterous in the pool and not to run around the pool’s perimeter.
- Avoid the consumption of alcohol when supervising your loved ones at the pool.
- Teach your children to always ask to swim with another person who is able to swim and not to swim in the dark.
- Teach your children to always enter a new area of the pool feet first. Never assume depth of the water visually from the ground above the pool, always test the depth of water by entering feet first. Diving into the pool of unknown depth can lead to death or severe spinal injuries.
- As a parent/adult, learn how to perform a CPR (Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation). These skills may just come handy someday to help others in danger of drowning. Follow the above suggestions closely and you will have a great time enjoying your holiday and staying at your Bali villa peacefully.
